Turning Paparazzi !

Hi there,
              One of our lecturers wanted us out and about with our cameras this term, getting shots of well know people. I loitered with intent outside Dublin castle when the economic forum was on,  in the hope of getting a pic of Bill Clinton who was the guest speaker. He stayed very hidden in his van so I had to settle for pics of Bono and Gaybriel Byrne.. Not a bad evenings work.

Earlier in the week I had hung around the Dail and try to recognise some of our nations politicians!
I got this pic of Gerry Adams as he was heading in.

I didn't think paparazzi snapping would be my thing but it's quite sociable - you always end up chatting away the wait with strangers.

Went for a wander down the Dublin docklands on Saturday (perfectly innocent mind you). It's years since I've seen it last - The Point was the only attraction then. I really like the Harp bridge, must try to see it when's it's raised. Here are a few of my images.

 

HDR

Hi all,
It's been a while.. Been busy. Just started doing HDR photos. It's when you take the same photo a couple of times with different exposure settings and then let the computer mash them together (not the technical term!) I like them - they look a bit surreal.

Pinhole Photography



Pinhole (v.exp) Clarks I


Hello,
It's been a few weeks. I've been busy or at least pretending to be busy:) This is something I've being meaning to put up for a while. I'm now a pinholeaphile. Pinhole photography - you read about it - yada yada - you can take a cardboard box with a tiny pinhole in the front, you let in light onto a piece of light sensitive paper and a picture forms, but then you try it and go whoa!
Here are two pics - the picture above is the pinhole camera - my carefully constructed cardboard camera. The second below is my favourite pinhole picture - it was taken in the college. The exposure took 17 and 1/2 minutes.

  Anyway if anyone was planning to get me any Canon equipment for Christmas - there is no need to change their minds!







Glendalough

Hi,

Assignment week... Means we have no formal classes but are trusted  to get on with the work. Last time round it would of amounted to a week off in the pub but this time round - it was all work except for yesterday where we went to Glendalough to take pictures. It was fricking freezing. Normally not a problem as I still have all the Antartica gear but unfortunately all that gear was in Westport! Here's a few of the photos- let  me  know which one you like the best?

Flash Ahaa...

One of last weeks classes was on flash. Hurrah - we get to use our digital cameras for a change. We were sent outside to do some exercises and we had to take turns in front of the camera as well. Mostly this means standing aimlessly in front of the camera with the occasional wit making a funny face. However Dan pulled a few poses and the result wasn't half bad.

Coincidentally Griffith College has just set up a monthy photography contest for the students. This month theme is "Portraits" - timely that. So I sent that one in as most of my portraits are more on the pretty side rather than contemporary.
