These were taken for a slide assignment. We had to take a few pictures with complementary and adjacent colours from the colour circle. So rather than pottering around looking for the colours as they appear in nature, I went straight to the confectionery aisle looking for the artificial E number versions. They were a great incentive to finish the shoot:)
Hope they don't make you too hungry.

Hurrah I'm in the KPS 2011 Calender!



Abstract Sunset

I just found out I'm in next years KPS calender and I'm delighted. I took this shot in August on Cable Beach in Broome, Australia. I didn't have a tripod and the light was dropping fast so I panned it. For non-photographers, it means I moved the camera sideways when taking the shot and that's what gives it the smooth effect.

Midnight in the Garden



There's nothing like wandering around a graveyard in the dark to give you the heebie geebies. I went with my friend Clare, otherwise I would have turned on my heels and ran. I kept saying to myself - 'it's only 8 o'clock , It's only 8 o'clock'. It was creepy. I was there in an attempt to get scary photos for the Bram Stoker photo comp. Here are some of my photos, the ones that don't need to be photoshopped anyway!

Thinking about gore

I know what you're thinking - it's a bit early for Halloween but it is related. I'm thinking about a photograph competition. Specifically "The Bram Stoker Dracula Halloween Horror Festival" is looking for photos of Gothic Horror. It's a far cry from my usual nature shots but I think I'll give it a try. So now conjuring images of skulls and graveyards and blood - Just in time for bedtime :(

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas of how I can do Gothic gore on a very low (non existent budget) -would they get back to me!

A late appearance

My name is Derville Conroy. This is my first blog and I'm already late. Let me explain, it wasn't my fault - honestly! I missed a few days of classes in my second week of college because I was taking photos of a wedding in America. This was my third time to do a full wedding so I was still hyper about it. It did go well, even though I brought the rain with me from Ireland and it lashed until about 2pm. The best man was 45 minutes late which meant a big rush to get the groomsmen pictures and the poor bride was stuck in the car waiting all that time . Still it all came together in the end and I did get the late evening sun for the last few pics of the bridal party and we even got a rainbow appearing for us!
